I try to make all my shading as clean as possible (I dunno what a stump is) but I do use a tortillian! :D :D

What paper did you use? I've tried using coloring pencils and pastel for the same drawing, but the paper I use for pastel is not good for pencils and the paper I use for pencils is not good for pastel :(

I just use regular sketch paper, you just have to know how to blend the right mediums on it because it's right in the middle for how well it works with them :D

How comes that this one looks better shaded than the other one if you drew this before?

because of the lighting that I took the picture in, And the shading had faded and I forgot to fix it again after I sold the piece LOL

Mechanical pencils are the pencils that you don't have to sharpen, and you load lead into them :D they've been around for YEARS lolol

Thank you! I agree that the cloud part at the top could be more rounded or mushroomy or something, but I like it this way too. I'm still new to the painting scene, so if I ever paint another explosion, I'll see what I can do :)
